The Pilum-Class Anti-Ship Guided Missile (Pilum-Class ASGM) is a ship-to-ship missile designed and built for use on Alliance ships, and is also used by Cerberus and the Migrant Fleet. Alliance warships, especially larger capital ships, usually carry a large numbers of them so as to overwhelm enemy shielding and GARDIAN systems. While strictly an anti-ship weapon, Alliance ships will occassionally use them for planetary bombardment, often to devastating effect. While the Turian Hierarchy has developed jamming countermeasures to mess with the guidance system of the Pilum-class, the Alliance countered this by allowing the ship's VI to remotely control the missiles. The Pilum is designed with the explosives packed towards the tip, giving the missile more speed while delivering a more powerful explosion.
The Pilum-class is currently in use by all Cerberus navy vessels, and the Migrant Fleet, prior to the Eden Prime War, bought thousands for use by their own ships.
